Coaching has become inextricably linked to success in today’s business world. The term coaching is part of the corporate language and used as frequently as profit, sales figures or productivity improvement in managerial, entrepreneurial, training and human resource meetings. This course defines coaching as part of a tool kit for managing successfully to optimise results.

People were already being coached at the start of the Common Era. The word coaching in today’s work environment still encompasses the act of true partnership and mutual responsibility. Coaching can be a performance tool building on technical and expert knowledge. On the other hand, it can be an empathetic instrument, in which team knowledge and communication play a major part.

Coaching in this course is a management tool that is frequently used in organisations, aimed at making optimum use of everybody’s qualities and talents in such a way, that knowledge and skills are further developed and broadened. Good coaching is an art, a major part of which is aimed at giving individuals a greater insight into choices made that impact success. There is always a correlation between coaching and practical business processes that encourage a person or team to learn. Coaching, implemented at an organisational level, can deliver great results and drive significant financial impact to the bottom line. Today’s value-based organisations use coaching to build alignment, to develop their current and future leaders and managers, and to ensure the success of corporate training programmes. Coaching is about action and results! Coaching helps individuals/teams to embrace new concepts, to cross the bridge from ‘learning” to “doing,” and to support personal and organisational success. Coaching gives the boost needed to get from where you are to where you need to be.

The role of Information Technology (IT) has never been more vital to organizations seeking to achieve high performance. For decades, IT and business executives have debated on the merits of technology investments. Today, the integration of IT with business performance has become extremely important for all organizations.

Getting people to measure the business value of IT is not easy and is even harder in a high tech company. It is critical for IT organizations to understand and document the business value they deliver to the company if they want to be seen as anything other than a cost center. Executives within corporations are surveyed not only in terms of the assessment of the impact of IT on business performance, but also the strategic objectives of the firm independent of IT.

How is IT being used, and how well is it being used is the focus of this training programme. This programme provides the learner with knowledge on how to harness IT capability and utilise it to enhance business performance within the organisation.

In our fast paced reality, we are constantly challenged with the need to make decisions. Some are targeted at solving problems, while others are aimed at preventing them. Our ability to prevent a situation from deteriorating into a complex problem depends on our understanding of the issue at hand, and on our ability to choose the appropriate response.

Professional success is largely determined by our ability to make good decisions. Therefore, we must acquire both independent and collaborative techniques for analysing problems, and searching for and selecting appropriate solutions.

This training programme focuses on improving your problem solving and decision-making competence. As these processes often happen very quickly, you will learn how to break the process down into stages, practice each individual stage and end it by putting them all together. Participants begin by addressing the importance of making the shift from fast paced problem solving (putting out fires) to planned decision making in their professional lives. You will then take the first step in the problem solving process by learning how to define and analyse problems. The next step is getting acquainted with rational techniques for decision-making and problem solving. After that you will be introduced to a more intuitive and creative technique for solving problems. At the end of the day, you will put everything that you have learned into practise.

Topics

Enhancing the ability to recognize business problems that need to be addressed

Identifying and practising evaluation options for making decisions

Improving various skills, tools and techniques in problem resolution

Reducing the time required to take business decisions and resolve problems - taking responsibility for initiating action

Involving multiple stakeholders in addressing business problems enabling effective decision-making

Target Group

This training is open to all employees who want to ensure that work activities run efficiently by making decisions and handling functional problems effectively.

Approach

Highly interactive.

Training Objectives

Enable the learner to recognise and resolve functional business problems; raising the employee’s level of capability to make decisions either autonomously or collaboratively

Provide an understanding of the different techniques for addressing problem solving challenges and helping to identify and resolve multi-functional process problems

Duration

One day.
